Ms. Namita Mittal is a Research Assistant at the Centre for Maritime Economy and Connectivity (CMEC), RIS. Her work focuses on maritime economics, trade facilitation, regional connectivity, and international maritime cooperation. Her research interests include maritime trade, logistics, shipbuilding and Ship repair, green shipping, maritime routes (Arctic, INSTC, NSR) and regional economic integration.
Ms. Deeksha Gupta is a Research Assistant at the Center for Maritime Economy and Connectivity (CMEC) at RIS. Her work focuses on India's Maritime sector - trade, insurance, freight, technology and connectivity. She also contributes to policy research on the labor workforce of the Maritime sector, particularly in the context of geoeconomics and geopolitical shocks.
I am a Research Assistant at the Centre for Maritime Economy and Connectivity, Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS), where I conduct research on maritime policy and contribute to policy briefs, research reports, newsletters, discussion paper and commentaries. My work also involves engaging with government, industry, and academic stakeholders to support evidence-based policymaking. I hold a Master's degree in Public Policy from O.P. Jindal Global University.
Harshit Srivastava is a Consultant at the Centre for Maritime Economy and Connectivity (CMEC), RIS. His research examines the interface between maritime transport, logistics, trade, and regional connectivity. His work focuses on transport corridors, port-led development, maritime supply chains, and international maritime cooperation, with an emphasis on enhancing resilient and sustainable maritime ecosystems.
Dr. Jaswant Singh Kain is current working as a Consultant with Centre for Maritime Economy and Connectivity (CMEC) at RIS. He has done his PhD from Department of East Asian Studies (DEAS), University of Delhi and his MPhil in Korean Studies from Centre for East Asian Studies (CEAS), School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. He has completed his B.A. and M.A. in Korean Language from School of Languages, Literature and Culture Studies (SLL&CS), JNU. He has worked with reputed IT Company Oracle India Pvt.
Dr. Sayantan Ghosal is Consultant at RIS since January 2022. He has been awarded his doctoral degree from the Centre for European Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University in 2022.
Dr. P. Srinivasa Rao is a Fellow at Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS), New Delhi. Prior to join at RIS, he worked in Fourteenth Finance Commission (14th FC) Support Cell at National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA). He also worked as Assistant Professor (Adhoc) in Economics at Sri Venkateswara College & Maharaja Agrasen College, as a Guest Faculty he worked in Deshbandhu College & Sri Aurobindo College from University of Delhi.
Commodore Sujeet Samaddar is graduated from IIT Roorkee (B.E) in 1978. Samaddar began his career as an Engineer Trainee with Tata Consulting Engineers, Mumbai. Commissioned into the Indian Navy in 1980, Samaddar held various staff, four command appointments and retired in 2009 as Principal Director Naval Plans.
Dr. Pratap Singh Birthal has joined the Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS) as a Distinguished Fellow, where he will strengthen the Agriculture activities of RIS and DAKSHIN’s initiative, with a focus on advancing policy-relevant research and cooperation across the Global South.
Paridhi Lohani is a Research Assistant (Digital) at DAKSHIN, Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS), where she supports policy research through digital technologies, data analysis, and research communication. Her work spans trade data analytics, digital platforms, interactive dashboards, and AI-enabled tools that strengthen evidence-based policymaking and knowledge dissemination. Drawing on a background in computer science, economics, and software engineering, she contributes to both research and the digital systems that support it.
