Dr. Renu is a Consultant with RIS, the premier Indian Policy Research Institution and the Official Think tank of the Government of India. She holds a rich experience in research and policy formulation. Before joining RIS, she has worked with the  Policy Planning and Research Division, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India; and Indian Council of World Affairs. 

Her research areas include Global Politics; Foreign and Security Policies of the European Union; Study on India’s relations with EU and its member states; Germany and Russia; India-Germany/EU Climate Issues; German Diaspora Studies; Multilateralism; and Indo-Pacific Studies. She is the Author of “Ukraine, Russia and Europe: Emergence of a New Cold War”, published by KW Publishers, New Delhi, in February 2025. She has also published in Journals and has book chapters. She has presented various papers at national and international conferences.

She has received her PhD from the School of International Relations, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. Her doctoral thesis focused on the Ukraine Crisis and the Russia-European Union Relations: A New Cold War.  She holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the Centre of German Studies, School of Language, Literature & Cultural Studies, JNU. She also attended the Goethe Institute, New Delhi.

Apart from English and Hindi, she speaks fluent German language and has also sound understanding of Russian language.
